STEP 1: Filing Your Petition
Review and sign the documents.
- Bring the filing fee and the Divorce Complaint to the clerk's office.
- Schedule a hearing
STEP 2: Serving Your Spouse
After you have filed the divorce complaint, you need to serve the Complaint on your spouse with the included Civil Summons. After handing the forms to your spouse, your spouse must sign the Acceptance of Service document.
STEP 3 : Finalizing Your Divorce
Only the person, who filed the petition, has to go to the court hearing.
- Bring the Judgment document to your scheduled hearing time.
- Hearings are typically brief. Answer any questions the judge may have. Included in instructions is some sample testimony.
Once your Judgment is signed by the judge, your divorce is final.
